Duvauchelle Store reopens with added Bistro
The Duvauchelle Store has been transformed by new owner Celia Hay, of Hay’s Restaurant into a combined country store and bistro, catering to the large number of visitors to the Peninsula.
The Store has retained its New Zealand Post agency and now serves Hummingbird Espresso as well as stocking breads (including those baked in the Bistro), groceries and a good range of well-priced local and international wines and spirits.

The Duvauchelle Bistro will focus on full-flavoured food derived from fresh seasonal ingredients and where possible organically grown or locally sourced on or near the Banks Peninsula
.
“Bistros are traditionally a hub of social activity in a neighbourhood where people come again and again for the company and the down-to-earth food,” says Celia Hay. “Our goal is to create a modern interpretation of the classic French bistro. We offer honest food combined with warm hospitality plus the view up Akaroa harbour is spectacular!”
Bread will be baked on-site from the Bistro’s own Duvauchelle-raised sourdough.
